Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the #2 cancer killer in Oregon. Most deaths from CRC are preventable through early screening—yet fewer than half of Oregonians over 50 years old have had screening.
In support of the national goal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to boost the rate to 80% by 2014, the Oregon Partnership for Cancer Control (OPCC) developed the Colorectal Cancer Screening Toolkit. The toolkit assists clinical teams in communicating with their patients about CRC risks and motivating them to complete potentially life-saving screening.
The toolkit was developed by Acumentra Health for the Oregon Health Authority, under a grant from the CDC. It includes modules for three distinct audiences:
Module materials are formatted as PDF files* for duplex printing (blank pages have been added so that each distinct element begins on an odd-numbered/"front" page). Please contact Acumentra Health if you need to access this content in an alternative format.

Session 1 focuses on CRC and the value of screening; Session 2 is for learning and practicing approaches for persuading patients to complete. The materials utilize a decision stage model based on research about influencing patients in different stages of change.
